MORE ART INC.
moreartinc
I have just become the Chair of the Board for More Art Inc. What an artist does with his art is vitally important. An artist capturing the heart of his or her audience is achieving a victory far more complete than the conquest of an empire. An artist is a warrior who causes effects on an audience. And with today’s instantaneous global communication, those effects could morally cripple an entire culture in a matter of decades or just as surely create a new age of enlightenment and grace. Which it will be is in the hands of the artist.

"THE SINGER'S ROUNDTABLE"
Starting in 2009, Cathy's created a show called "The Singers' Roundtable", in which she interviews one or two Pro jazz vocalists, with impromptu bursts into song, accompanied by a fabulous pianist! The first two were held at the world-famous Jazz Bakery in Los Angeles (www.jazzbakery.com) The first show featured vocalists Tierney Sutton (www.tierneysutton.com), and Australia's Ingrid James (www.ingridjames.com). The second show featured Sherry Williams (www.sherrywilliamsmusic.com), and Cheryl Barnes (www.cheryldbarnes.com).

ALLIANCE FOR JAZZ WORKSHOPS
Another forming group was formed out of Ms. Segal-Garcia's panel at the IAJE (International Association of Jazz Educators) in January of 2006. On the panel were distinguished jazz vocalists/clinicians Mark Murphy, Madeline Eastman, Kathy Kosins, Michele Weir and Jay Clayton. This Alliance is setting up a network of workshops across the planet, who are constantly active and open for traveling clinicians. This is in its beginning stages, for more information, contact Cathy.

THE BLUE WHALE
This is a new venue, opened by a dear friend of mine, a great jazz singer, named Joon Lee. This venue is a place to create, for any form of art...music, photography, art, literature...open for ideas, Joon wants this to be a creative home for artists!

Full bar and finger foods available for purchase!
$10 cover - very special music!

123 Astronaut E S Onizuka Street
Los Angeles, CA 90012
Suite 301
(213)620-0908
www.facebook.com/thebluewhale
www.bluewhalemusic.com

At the northeast corner of Los Angeles Street and 2nd Street, next to the Kyoto Grand Hotel, in the Weller Court Plaza. Parking below in the building, or across the street, $5.
Street parking available.

Joon says, "I got a great chance to open this place! I have been fortunate enough to create and play with great jazz musicians in this town, like Bevan Manson, Cathy Segal-Garcia, Cho Yoonseung, Tamir Hendelman...and what I learned was an important gift, and that gift I want to give to people...

There's energy between musicians! When we improvise, it's not about the charts! That's what's so cool about this music! And I want the audience to feel that...this club will integrate audience and musicians physically and therefore creatively. The "stage" area is move-able. The musicians are able to choose their location in the room...sit in the middle of it if they want to, and the audience can move their chairs and tables, right into the heart of the experience!

In a warm, cozy art space environment, I want people to transcend the invisible rules that we are many times forced to work with...and go beyond that,
to the life force of the creations!"

Stay tuned for the continuous stream of the best of modern jazz artists in Los Angeles!!!
